About the Role
The Forklift Operator – Shipyard Logistics is responsible for the safe movement, organization, allocation and storage of materials throughout the shipyard.
Working closely with Shipping & Receiving, Production and other departments, this position ensures materials are safely unloaded, moved, staged and stored in the appropriate locations to support efficient shipyard operations and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklifts and material-handling equipment throughout the shipyard.
- Load, unload, move and stage materials, equipment and supplies.
- Organize and maintain material storage, staging and laydown areas.
- Allocate and relocate materials based on project and production requirements.
- Ensure materials are clearly identified, accessible, safely stored and properly secured.
- Coordinate material movement with Shipping & Receiving and Production.
- Assist with locating materials, material counts and inventory verification as required.
- Maintain organized, safe and accessible yard and storage areas.
- Complete equipment inspections and report deficiencies, hazards or damaged equipment.
- Follow all PMG safety procedures, PPE requirements and safe material-handling practices.
- Perform general yard logistics, organization and housekeeping duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- 2+ years forklift/material-handling experience, preferably in an industrial, manufacturing, construction, marine or shipyard environment.
- Valid forklift certification required. Experience handling large, heavy or irregular materials preferred.
- Strong organizational and material-management skills.
- Ability to work safely around active production and heavy equipment.
- Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with multiple departments.
- Basic computer and recordkeeping skills.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence preferred.
- Physically capable of performing the requirements of the position.
- Strong safety awareness and attention to detail.

- Overtime or shift work may be required based on operational needs
